Up: Modal Verb for Suggestion - Could

This is probably the best animated movie I have ever seen. The story is great for both children and adults. The graphics are perfect and it has some touching moments that will make any sensitive viewer cry. Other moments are so funny that you will never forget them. I used two scenes for this blog. This first one is to have students practice modals for suggestions - could - in a contextualized manner.

A. Work in small groups. make a list of 5 things a young teen can do to help the elderly. Make sure you use the modal verb for suggestion - could - to express your ideas.

1 ...............................................

2...............................................

3...............................................

4...............................................

5...............................................

B. Now watch the segment and write down 3 suggestions the boy gives to help the old man in the scene.

1..........................................

2.........................................

3.........................................

C. Work in small groups again. Make a list of 3 things people could do in the following situations.

I. To protect the environment.

1..........................................

2.........................................

3.........................................

II. To help needy people at Christmas time.

1.........................................

2........................................

3........................................

III. To become more popular at school.

Dear Claudio, you like to compare. Old and Young, Tall and Short, Fat and Slim people.. What about to compare ascents?!I guess it can be very inspiring, especially for a Specialist living/speaking i Spanglish ..I like the movie "My Cousin Vinny "so much!
Dear Claudio, what can you suggest for Uzbek English learners with a major "International Law" after looking through your grammar loupe,
Halima

What do you mean comparing ascents? About Uzbek learners, maybe the advanced activities. But here the activities are basically grammar. Conversation topics you will find at http://warmupsfollowups.blogspot.com Is that what you mean?
